Amnesty International Media Advisory : UN Human Rights Council UPR 7th Session 8-9 February 2010

Amnesty International today published a series of reports detailing key human rights concerns and recommendations for countries that are up for review at the 7th session of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group. The UPR is the first-ever UN mechanism to look systematically at the human rights records of all countries.The countries scheduled for review in February are: Angola, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, El Salvador, Egypt, Fiji, Gambia, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Kazakhstan, Madagascar, Nicaragua, Qatar, San Marino and Slovenia.

The International Contact Group (ICG) on Guinea over the weekend ended a meeting at the African Union Commission Headquarters in Addis Ababa, a Press Release sent to the Sierra Leone Embassy states. According to the release from the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) General Secretariat in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the  meeting reviewed the latest political and security developments in Guinea and received a detailed briefing on the situation especially the Ouagadougou Declaration and on the progress in the mediation.
