The nation mourns with you, Mr. President
As the nation and mourners from all over the world move solemnly over to Makeni City for the Civic laying out and vigil today and the funeral and burial tomorrow of the First Mother of the Nation and mother of President Ernest Koroma , the late Mrs. Alice Rosaline Koroma , condolences keep pouring in. Below is a poem of sympathy dedicated to the Head of State, creatively written by the Deputy Permanent Representative For Legal Affairs to the United Nations, Ambassador Osman Keh Kamara
The nation mourns with you, Mr. President
She embedded in you the seeds of responsibility,
and instilled in you enviable virtues of piety;
She consecrated you unwearyingly for leadership;
and presented you for national ownership.
Your special weekends depicted immeasurable affection
as she deserves exquisite gifts and infinite adoration;
But inevitability supervened when least expected
as the nation’s precious gem inaugurated into orphan-hood
From the befitting ceremony at Miatta Hall in Freetown
to her ordained resting place in Makeni Town
the highway honks , fills with pools of tears and sombre
as Sierra Leone trudges in grief of the interment of her mother
Once more, my heartfelt condolence toHis Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma
and family, his brothers , sisters and other members of the Koroma family for the death of the mother of the nation, Mrs. Alice Rosaline Koroma. May her blessed soul rest in perfect peace and may light perpetual shine on her.
