Keeping Jesus Christ in Christmas
By the Rev. Leeroy Wilfred Kabs-Kanu :
CHRISTMAS is Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. Christmas is a celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The hedonistic world has taken Jesus out of Christmas. The sermons of the following weeks from your beloved loving servant and pastor, the Rev. Leeroy Wilfred Kabs-Kanu , will be devoted solely to the first coming and second coming of Jesus Christ to give readers not familiar with Jesus Christ his full mission on this earth which will reach final fulfillment when he comes again.
READ ABOUT HIS SOON-COMING AS AN APPETIZER :
Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, let this thought not escape you. Jesus Christ, our Lord and the Saviour of mankind, is coming soon, pretty soon. There has never been a time when there have been more reasons to expect the Second Coming of Jesus Christ than now. Soon, men will stare at the sky in wonder and see Jesus Christ leading the hosts of Heaven and coming down to herald his Second Coming, which is the subject of auspicious prophesies in the Bible .
This is an expected event the Bible prophesizes that has been ridiculed by heathens and hardened aethists down the ages but the Bible, which has stood the test of time as the unadulterated Word Of God that has never been found wanting in the truth and the accuracy of its prophesies recognizes that men will ridicule the most catacymic event that will ever occur on this earth. In 2 Peter 3, it highlights this problem and warns : 1″This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: 2That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: 3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. 5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night ” .
Jesus Christ himself, when he was on this earth, spoke of his second comig and gave signs that will herald this momentous event . Unless we are living in a different world with our heads buried in the sand, we have seen enough of the fulfillment of these signs to know that not only is the Bible truthful in its prophesies and projections but that the Second Coming of Jesus Christ will happen soon. Jesus Christ , before he was resurrected , comforted his followers with this promise :John 14:1-3 – “Your heart must not be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if not, I would have told you. I am going away to prepare a place for you. If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come back and receive you to Myself, so that where I am you may be also.”
However , sound biblical exegesis demands that the events that will herald the Second Coming be diligently and meticulously deciphered .The Second Coming of Jesus Christ should not be mistaken with the RAPTURE , during which the trumpet from Heaven will sound and Jesus Christ will come to take away his children from this earth but his feet will not touch the earth. It is very important that Evangelists, Pastors and preachers make this important distinction to their congregations .The Rapture is prophesied in 1 Corinthians 15:51 : “Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall be changed – in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.” This passage is prophesying the immediate vanishing or disappearance of God’s people from the face of the earth in the snap of a finger. The words , The Rapture , do not appear in the Bible but it is the name that Christendom has given to a miraculous event that will precede the actual Coming of Christ. God will rescue / rapture his children before the Anti-Christ rules the earth and people are forced to accept an implant referred in the Bible as “the mark of the beast.” The Rapture is also phophesied in 1 Thessalonians 4: 16-17 – “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.”
