As reported in this paper earlier in a press release from Pastor Gibrilla Bangura of Christ is Lord Ministry Church in Woodbridge, Virginia, the church was robbed Sunday, June 5 as some parishioners counted the offering and tithe collected for the day. A masked gunman walked in the church as they were counting the offerings, brandished a gun, and demanded money. Today, according to Police spokesperson Jonathan Perok two men, Stephen Ernest Wing, Jr., 19, of Dumfries, and 18-year-old Andrew Phillip Conteh, of Lorton, Virginia were arrested by Prince William County, Virginia police and held without bail in connection with the robbery.
Christ is Lord Ministry is one of the most dynamic Sierra Leonean churches in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. With members drawn from all walks of life and different parts in Sierra Leone, the church is deeply involved in community initiatives. Recently, the church donated five thousand dollars to help feed the poor and destitute beggars in Sierra Leone in commemoration of Sierra Leone’s Golden Independence Anniversary. Combined with good police work, many believe that it was the prayers of church members that led to a quick arrest.

According to Perok, Stephen Ernest Wing, Jr., 19, of Dumfries, is charged with abduction, robbery and use of a firearm in commission of felony. His accomplice, 18-year-old Andrew Phillip Conteh (no relation to the writer), of Lorton, Virginia faces the same charges.
According to Senior Pastor Gibrilla Bangura, following the robbery, the church has taken several undisclosed security measures to keep its worshipers safe. Thankfully, most church members did not know about the robbery until after the service, and no one was injured. The leadership of the church wishes to assure parishioners that the church will continue its mission of service to God and humanity.
